Friday Church continues to grow; here is what one mum says...

Friday Church, for me has been a life changing experience.

Every Friday morning when I walk through the door with my son I am greeted with a smile and genuine concern for how I am. I feel it is a safe place I can say anything and it won't leave the building.

My son loves playing with the toys and is looked after while I can sit and have a cup of tea and a lovely homemade cake! I can just relax and talk with the other mums and there's no expectations. I feel excepted and loved.

I used to play the flute years ago but with family commitments it got put away and forgotten. Now I play my flute again in the worship sessions I've rediscovered my gift. The talks and discussion groups have been amazing. Every talk has been down to earth, wording I can understand (no arts and thou's) I have learnt such a lot about God, the Bible and myself. I have been able to discuss the parts in my life and relationships that needed sorting out and pray through them. I have learnt how to pray for my children and their future. I have learnt how to be a good Christian parent and learnt that we are not all perfect we do make mistakes but God loves us and he forgives us.

Thank you to everyone at Friday church. Every person has had a big impact on my life and has helped me through difficult times. Thank you

Here is one solider's tetimony from Alpha at MCTC...

After being in MCTC for two weeks, a guy told me about the Alpha Course. I thought I might get something out of it - like a qualification. As I walked in I felt a bit uncomfortable, but I knew that coffee and cake was part of the deal. This made me feel like a bit of a fraud, but I listened to what the speakers said. I liked the music and the general change of scenery.

After a couple of weeks, chatting with Liam, one of the Alpha team, and getting to know the others, what really touched me was that these guys, complete strangers, cared about me, and that I was detained in this place.

I like to give Alpha my full support. I see how it really helps some of the younger guys, and I'm happy to help them overcome the apprehension and help give them the confidence to stand for something different

My attitude towards Christians has changed. There has been no shoving faith down my throat, and I have appreciated the way Christianity has been presented, with me having the choice of how to respond.

I love the stories of how people's lives have been dramatically changed by Jesus, like some ones parachute not opening and they call out to Jesus and they're safe. I was telling this to Liam and he told me that a guy was coming to speak soon, who had experienced just that!

I know it takes a lot of courage to come in here, sing songs about Jesus loving you, and stand up to speak about him. I have a lot of respect for the people who do that.

As long as I'm in here, I'll be coming along to Alpha, and I'll encourage the lads to come too.
