Alpha in the MCTC

Colchester Military Corrective Training Centre

Each Sunday afternoon, since Sept 2008 we have run an Alpha Course in the UK's only Military Corrective Training Centre with over 30 young men (and some women!) attending from the British Armed Forces. So far, we have spoken to nearly 1,000 British service personnel.

Every week we have a time of worship, & a talk, before spending time in discussion groups. The lads always have a good time! We have a library of Christian books from which the lads can borrow, including autobiographies, relationship teaching, and deeper understanding of the Word of God. This proves to be highly popular & requires constant replenishment! We receive encouraging feedback about how insightful & helpful the books are.

On Sunday 20th March we will be hosting Billy Gilvear, Robbie Williams former bodyguard, now from Shiloh Church, Guernsey

Billy Gilvear leads the Pastoral team at Shiloh Church, Guernsey. He has a particular gifting and training as an evangelist, with a tremendous personal story to tell of God's amazing grace. Billy is a passionate speaker, keen to see the church as a strong witness of God's love and reaching out to others.

During this time we have had some very exciting speakers come and talk about their life story, Author John Robinson, and Gram Seed, Alpha for Forces inventor Paul Cowley, author and evangelist Tony Anthony and Arthur White to name but a few.

We are always looking for experienced Alpha leaders or support helpers to do things like serving cakes, leading joining in discussion groups etc. who are willing to give up a Sunday afternoon either once a month, fortnightly or even every week. We are sure you'll have a good time!
